Courseware
"Courseware" is a term used to describe software resources which are used for Computer-Assisted Learning (CAL).
Open Courseware
"Open Courseware" refers to modular courseware that is inherently flexible, and has the capability of being used as part of an integrated courseware environment. Open courseware can be re-configured and re-used as required (as yet there is no "globally" open courseware).
Courseware Community
"Courseware Community" is a term used to refer to all the potential beneficiaries of open courseware including courseware developers, courseware publishers, learning resource managers, lecturers, teachers, students, distance learners, etc.
Courseware Management
"Courseware Management" refers to all the activities which are required to assemble, administer and endlessly adapt large structured collections of distributed CAL resources, to create navigable views of those structures, and to enable the integrated operation of the resulting courseware. Effective courseware management is compromised by courseware not being open.
Courseware Management System
"Courseware Management System" refers to a suite of software tools designed to enable courseware management.
Lessonware
"Lessonware" is a term used to refer to small units of computer assisted learning (CAL) material developed using a diverse range of authoring tools, programming languages, software applications, etc.
